Duties, Responsibilities, and Skills

• Inspect, identify and evaluate trees and brush at job sites
• Conduct safety audits and tree risk assessments
• Evaluate working conditions
• Protect self and others, work in a safe environment
• Assist in emergency response when required, such as storms or fires
• Ensure safe limits of approach
• Maintain right-of-way access; removing vegetation along high voltage power lines
• Climb trees and work at heights in proximity to energized electrical apparatus
• Experienced with climbing equipment, ability to work at varying heights – cutting and trimming trees
• Manage assigned equipment and follow inspection guidelines i.e. chainsaw, chipper
• Effective reporting to supervisor i.e. problems, incidents, deficiencies, accidents
• Perform other work assigned as required

 Requirements

• Valid drivers’ licence
• Utility Arborist Certificate
• IHSA Utility Work Protection Code (Preferred)
• First aid, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, WHMIS and Supervisor course
• Flexibility travelling in and out of town
• Ability to travel and work in rugged terrain and changing weather
• Proficient in map navigation and orientation
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good customer service skills
