Survey Technician
Workforce Inc. is seeking a Survey Technician for an exciting remote mine site opportunity near Dubreuilville, ON. Do you have 1-2 years experience working with survey equipment, a willingness to travel to a remote mine camp for work and an eagerness to learn? If so, apply now!
Purpose:
The Survey Technician will provide accurate and timely surveys to the Operations Team and, ensure best practices are followed for all survey activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete all required paperwork on a daily basis
- Maintain the work area clean, safe, and organized
- Execute daily work instructions received from Supervisor
- Moving and lifting equipment and supplies
- Use power tools and machinery when needed
- Help with setting up and transferring temporary structures
- Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions
- Attend and participate in safety meetings
- Site cleanup and general housekeeping
- Follow all applicable site procedures
- Put up warning signs and direct traffic when necessary
- Provide accurate surveys to the operations team
- Use best practice survey methods and procedures for all survey related field activities
- Ensure all work performed is documented and recorded accurately
- Assist in field staking for blast-holes, toes and crests, grade control, RC drilling, infrastructure (roads, ramps, pads, etc) and other control points
- Perform survey data collection (including from LIDAR and Photogrammetry equipped drones) and perform volume calculations for mid-month and month end reporting
- Other duties as required
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- At least 1-2 years of experience in a similar role
- An appropriate college diploma considered an asset
- Knowledge of the proper use and care of survey instruments & equipment
- Experience with drones will be an asset
- Experience with survey software including Trimble Business Centre, working in MS Office, Windows Environment
- Familiarity with Minesight or other relevant software will be an asset
- Experience working in an open pit mining environment
- Effective communication skills
- Strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental workplace standards
- Working in a team environment and able to work independently
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
Salary: $28.00 – $30.00 per hour commensurate on experience
Schedule: 8 days on / 6 days off, 10 hour shifts OR 7 days on / 7 days off, 12 hour shifts
