Job Description
As the Truck & Coach Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing the NPS fleet of highway trucks, trailers, and specialized heavy equipment, including hydrovac units, vacuum trucks, septic equipment, water trucks, roll-off systems, pumps, blowers, hydraulic systems, PTOs, and other specialized mechanical equipment. You will work closely with ownership, operations, supervisors, and field crews to ensure equipment remains safe, reliable, and ready to respond whenever customers need service.
Responsibilities:
Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy trucks, trailers, hydrovac units, vacuum trucks, septic trucks, water trucks, roll-off equipment, and supporting fleet assets;
Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, suspension, steering, brake systems, electrical systems, emissions systems, and electronic controls;
Maintain and repair pumps, vacuum systems, blowers, hydraulic systems, PTOs, water systems, valves, hoses, plumbing, and associated mechanical components;
Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical failures;
Complete preventative maintenance services;
Conduct annual inspections and safety inspections;
Respond to emergency equipment breakdowns in the field;
Complete repair documentation and maintenance records;
Maintain a clean and safe shop;
Communicate repair priorities with operations;
Assist with fabrication, welding, equipment modifications, and shop improvement projects
Wages & Benefits: Starting at $45/hour based on experience, certifications, and qualifications.
Work Schedule: Full Time | Shop, Field Work & Emergency Call Outs.
Required Skills & Role
Minimum 3 years of experience repairing heavy trucks, commercial vehicles, construction equipment, industrial equipment, or related mechanical systems;
Strong troubleshooting skills with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air brake systems, electrical systems, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics;
Experience with hydrovac trucks, vacuum trucks, pumps, blowers, hydraulic equipment, septic systems, water hauling equipment, or vocational equipment is an asset;
Valid 310T Truck & Coach Technician Licence (or equivalent heavy equipment experience considered);
Valid G Class Driver's Licence with clean Driver's Abstract;
Ability to travel to operational and client sites;
Ability to complete criminal background check and drug/alcohol testing where required;
Assets include DZ or AZ Licence, welding and fabrication experience, hydraulic diagnostics, PTO and vacuum system experience, CVIP/Annual Inspection Certification, First Aid/CPR, Working at Heights, WHMIS, TDG, and experience using electronic diagnostic software.
