Overview
Better jobs Ontario may provide you with support in the following areas:
skills training for in-demand jobs
financial support (tuition, books, living allowance)
transportation
Eligible Training
Better Jobs Ontario aims to help you rejoin the workforce quickly; therefore, the program offers funding for both:
short-term training programs that take 52 weeks or less to complete, including micro-credential programs
longer duration programs that take 2 years or less to complete
Participant Eligibility
To be eligible, individuals must:
have been laid-off and be unemployed, OR have been laid off and are working a temporary job just to cover costs
be from a low-income household and experiencing challenges attaching to the labour market.
In addition to the above criteria, individuals must:
be a resident of Ontario; and
be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or meet the 900-series Social Insurance Number (SIN) policy
demonstrate occupational demand for the skills training request with evidence of good employment prospects locally or within Ontario - with the exception of Feepayers who are exempt from this requirement.
