Overview

Better jobs Ontario may provide you with support in the following areas:

  • skills training for in-demand jobs

  • financial support (tuition, books, living allowance)

  • transportation

Eligible Training

Better Jobs Ontario aims to help you rejoin the workforce quickly; therefore, the program offers funding for both:

  • short-term training programs that take 52 weeks or less to complete, including micro-credential programs

  • longer duration programs that take 2 years or less to complete

Participant Eligibility

To be eligible, individuals must:

  • have been laid-off and be unemployed, OR have been laid off and are working a temporary job just to cover costs

  • be from a low-income household and experiencing challenges attaching to the labour market.

In addition to the above criteria, individuals must:

  • be a resident of Ontario; and

  • be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or meet the 900-series Social Insurance Number (SIN) policy

  • demonstrate occupational demand for the skills training request with evidence of good employment prospects locally or within Ontario - with the exception of Feepayers who are exempt from this requirement.
