Job Description
Knowledge / Skills
Understand and employ ventilation concepts for an underground mine
Capably operate ventilation survey equipment (primarily a digital anemometer)
Work independently in both the underground and office environments
Utilize mine ventilation simulation software (VentSim)
Conduct weekly air volumetric surveys and report on active UG workplaces; gas check specific workheadngs as required
Issue and follow up on work instructions for remedial ventilation infrastructure work
Capture and log fan inventories, locations, and fan conditions underground – this work should be done in conjunction with the UG electrical services department
Update of UG Diesel Chart of procedures
Update and issue of ventilation prints on semi-annual basis or as required due to
Perform basic functions of Deswik Mine Design and Scheduling packages
Support the Life of Mine/Long range planner in long term mine design
Teamwork
Attend and actively participate in shift change meetings and provide accurate handover notes/information on problems, events and process changes to cross shift
Participate in and support business improvement initiatives and delivery a product(s) to operations and project teams.
Planning & Organisation
Prioritise and complete tasks accurately as to specifications as assigned by direct supervisor within required timeframes.
Proactively identify and address hazards before they arise as issues.
Be punctual to work and all required site meetings.
Undertake other duties as lawfully instructed
