What is Better Jobs Ontario?
Better Jobs Ontario is a government-funded program designed to help eligible Ontarians train for careers that are in demand.
If approved, the program may help pay for:
Tuition
Books and learning materials
Transportation
Basic living expenses while you attend school
Other training-related costs
It's an investment in your future—and it could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
Not sure if you're eligible?
Better Jobs Ontario has several eligibility requirements, including residency and immigration status. Every situation is unique, so don't rule yourself out! Book an appointment with one of our Employment Coordinators, and we'll help determine whether you qualify.
To be eligible for Better Jobs Ontario, applicants generally must:
Be a resident of Ontario.
Be either:
a Canadian citizen,
a permanent resident, or
eligible under Ontario's 900-series SIN policy (which includes certain protected persons and individuals with specific immigration statuses who are legally entitled to work in Canada). International students with a 900-series SIN are not eligible.
If someone is in Canada on a temporary work permit, visitor visa, or study permit, they are generally not eligible, unless they meet one of the specific exceptions under the 900-series SIN policy.
Is It Time for a Career Change?
You may qualify if you:
Have been laid off.
Are unemployed or working temporary or part-time jobs just to make ends meet.
Have been unemployed for 12 weeks or more and are part of a low-income household.
Receive Employment Insurance (EI), Ontario Works (OW), or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP).
With recent program updates, more people may now be eligible than ever before. If you've wondered whether Better Jobs Ontario is right for you, now is the time to find out.
